Triptis is a small town in Thuringia, and this 25 Pfennig Notgeld piece is about as local as emergency currency gets — printed by C. Herrmann in the nearby village of Meßbach rather than any regional commercial press. The near-square format is a consequence of cost-cutting in paper allocation during the inflationary period, not a design choice.
The April 30, 1945 print date is worth pausing on: that is the day Hitler died in Berlin, and within days the war in Europe was effectively over. Whether this issue ever reached circulation in any meaningful sense is doubtful.
