| Opmerkingen |
Ohrdruf sits in the Thuringian hills southwest of Gotha, and in 1921 it was doing what hundreds of German municipalities were doing simultaneously — printing its own emergency money because the Reichsbank simply couldn't produce coin and small-denomination notes fast enough to meet demand. This wave of Kleingeldersatz is sometimes romanticized, but it was a direct consequence of wartime metal requisitions stripping copper and nickel from circulation.
Gebrüder Parcus in Munich were among the more prolific Notgeld printers of the period, handling municipal commissions from across southern and central Germany. Their output was technically competent and consistent — which is exactly why so much of it survives in bulk.
