Opmerkingen

Steinheim an der Weser is a small Westphalian town, and its 1921 Notgeld issue was produced by Selmar Bayer in Berlin — one of the more prolific small-denomination emergency currency printers of the Weimar inflation period. Bayer supplied similar municipal issues across dozens of German towns during the 1921–1922 peak of Kleingeldnotstand, when coins of low denomination had effectively vanished from circulation through hoarding and melting.

The issuing authority here is the Stadtsparkasse rather than the municipality directly — a distinction that occasionally affected redemption terms and legal standing when towns later contested liability for outstanding notes.
