Opmerkingen

Aschersleben's municipal treasury issued this Notgeld piece during the severe coin shortage that followed Germany's postwar economic dislocation — small-denomination metal currency had effectively vanished from circulation by 1920, hoarded or melted, forcing hundreds of municipalities to print their own emergency paper substitutes. The Stadtkasse issues from this town are moderately scarce compared to the flood of Notgeld produced by larger Prussian cities.

Krelle's design credit is uncommon for issues at this denomination and level — most municipal Notgeld of this type went to unnamed commercial printers with no individual attribution.
