Schulz occupies the centre of the reverse, rendered in a Jugendstil illustrative style: a tranquil lakeside landscape with a red-roofed cottage among trees, reeds and water-lilies in the foreground, and a lone figure in a rowing boat on the water. A decorative border of lily-pad chain runs across the top. Two lines of poetic verse in ornate Gothic script appear at the top of the composition, with a concluding couplet inscribed along the lower margin, together extolling the hidden idyll of the Rehmer Moor. |
