Comments

Derenburg is a small village in the Harz foothills, administratively part of the Halberstadt district, and its 1920 Notgeld issue is exactly what you'd expect from a minor municipal authority scraping together emergency small change during the coin shortage that followed the First World War. Louis Koch in Halberstadt was a regional printer who handled a number of these local commissions — competent jobbing work, nothing more.

The 25 Pfennig denomination was among the most common targets for Notgeld issuers precisely because Reichsbank coinage in that value had effectively vanished from circulation by 1919.
