Obverse description The obverse is printed in red, black, and cream tones in a bold Art Nouveau letterpress style. A large ornate numeral '25' with decorative foliate scrollwork dominates the upper centre, flanked by radiating sunburst lines in red; the denomination 'PFENNIG' appears on a black plinth beneath. The city arms of Schleswig — a tower with crescent moon and star — are inset upper right within a stamp-like vignette, while a circular embossed municipal seal appears upper left. The lower portion carries a serial number panel, four manuscript facsimile signatures with their respective titles (BÜRGERMEISTER, STADTRAT, STADV.-VORST., STELLV.-STADTV.-VORST.), and an acceptance legend in the bottom border.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in green, red-orange, and black in a richly detailed Art Nouveau composition signed 'Karl Spethmann' on both lateral borders. The central vignette presents a sweeping bird's-eye panorama of the town of Schleswig with the tall spire of St. Petri Cathedral rising above the red-tiled rooftops, the Schlei estuary winding through the landscape beyond. Flanking the central scene are two oval side panels: the left with a standing peasant figure and a zeppelin, the right with a blacksmith at his anvil and a castle vignette; ornamental green '25 PFENNIG' cartouches anchor each upper corner. A four-line verse in the upper border and a validity notice in the lower border complete the design.
