Obverse description The obverse of this Notgeld is divided into three vertical panels within a decorative border of interlocking geometric ornaments. The upper register carries the bold red inscription '25 STADT LAUFEN 25' in large letterpress type. At left, the municipal coat of arms of Laufen is rendered in full colour within a baroque cartouche, beneath which a red panel bears the denomination '25 PFENNIG' in white. The central panel contains the validity clause text and the issuance date, countersigned with the manuscript signature of Fuchs; at right, the Bavarian lozenge coat of arms in an ornate frame is accompanied by a vignette of a domed church tower amid trees.
