In the upper left, the heraldic arms of Kreis Erkelenz — a crowned shield bearing a lion — appear beside the large blackletter heading 'Kreis Erkelenz 1920' and the bold denomination '25 Pfennig' in Gothic script. Below, a serial number in the format 'No 000000 A II.' is followed by a block of small-print text in German stating acceptance conditions and validity terms, dated 'Erkelenz, den 24. Juni 1920', and closed with the issuing authority line 'Der Kreis-Ausschuß des Kreises Erkelenz' above three manuscript signatures. |

Three circular vignettes are arranged horizontally across the centre: the left and right medallions each contain the numeral '25' in bold Gothic script, while the central, larger medallion presents an engraved view of a ruined medieval tower — likely the Erkelenz Stadtturm — rendered with fine cross-hatching against an open sky. The overall composition is simple and symmetrical, typical of German Notgeld small-format issues of the early 1920s. |
