Orlamünde is a small town on the Saale in Thuringia, historically overshadowed by its medieval counts — the Counts of Orlamünde, whose line died out in the 14th century. This 1920 Notgeld issue has nothing to do with that history; it exists purely because the post-WWI coin shortage made small-denomination paper a practical necessity across hundreds of German municipalities simultaneously. Schneider & Co. in Altenburg printed for numerous Thuringian communities during this period, and the production quality is consistent with their other 1920 municipal runs.
The DeNG suffix "c" indicates a distinct paper or color variant within the O24.2 series.
