背面描述 The reverse carries a chromolithographic vignette in the style typical of early 1920s German Notgeld, showing a young girl in period dress seated on a wooden floor beside a blackboard, holding a small doll; the composition has no additional border ornamentation, lending it the character of a decorative postcard illustration. The blackboard bears a four-line verse in Kurrent script, the only text element on the reverse.
背面铭文 Es grünn die Tannen,
Es wuchtn die Knin;
Gott laffen in Zukunft
Uns glücklicher sein!

备注

Lehesten was a small slate-mining town in Thuringia, and its 1920 Notgeld issue was driven by the same chronic small-coin shortage that plagued municipal Germany in the immediate postwar years — federal copper and nickel coinage had effectively vanished from circulation, either hoarded or melted. The Bürgermeisteramt issued these notes under its own authority, which was routine for German municipalities at the time, though the print run of over twelve million for a town of Lehesten's size points to regional distribution well beyond the issuing locality.
