| Obverse description | Notgeld (emergency money) issued by the city of Bergisch Gladbach, with a bold central denomination inscription '25 PFENNIG' beneath the word 'GUTSCHEIN' in quotation marks, flanked on each side by circular medallions bearing the numeral '25' and decorative foliate vignettes with oak-leaf sprays. The city's heraldic coat of arms — a crenellated tower above a rampant lion over wavy lines — is centred in the lower portion, accompanied by the issuance text stating payment by the Stadtkasse until 31.12.1919, the date 'den 1. Juli 1917', and a facsimile mayoral signature ('Der Bürgermeister').
