| 裏面の説明 | Grey-blue reverse within the same scalloped outer border, carrying three horizontal vignettes across the centre: at left, a ploughman guiding a horse-drawn plough through a field; at centre, a mine-shaft headframe set within an octagonal guilloche frame evoking the region's Erzgebirge mining heritage; and at right, two workers before an industrial facility with smoking chimneys. Large underprint numerals '25' anchor the lower-left and lower-right corners, while a four-line redemption text in Fraktur script occupies the lower portion. |

Marienberg lies in the Erzgebirge, the Ore Mountains of Saxony — mining country, economically isolated enough that small-change shortages during the First World War hit hard and fast. This note is Kriegsgeld in the strictest sense: the Königliche Amtshauptmannschaft, the royal district authority, stepped in to fill a vacuum the Reichsbank could not address at the local level. Thousands of similar emergency issues appeared across Germany from 1916 onward as coin hoarding stripped circulation of anything silver or copper.
The issuing body, the Bezirksverband, was an administrative association of municipalities within the district — not a bank, not a commercial entity.
