| 表面の説明 | Printed in violet on cream paper, the note is laid out with a rectangular border enclosing a central vignette of the municipal coat of arms of Furth im Wald — a shield bearing a stylised tree over wavy lines — flanked by foliate ornaments. The denomination numeral '25' appears in each corner within square cartouches, with the issuing authority text arranged around the central vignette. A black-stamped serial number is applied across the upper centre, and a validity date inscription runs vertically along the right margin. |

Furth im Wald is a small Bavarian border town on the Bohemian frontier, and this 1921 25 Pfennig Notgeld note is a product of the severe coin shortage that followed Germany's defeat in 1918. Municipal councils across Germany — including hundreds of tiny market towns like Furth im Wald — were authorized to issue emergency small-denomination paper to fill the gap left by hoarded or melted coinage. The Stadtrat here was acting as a de facto local monetary authority, a role it would never have claimed under normal conditions.
Collectors should be aware that Furth im Wald issues were produced in short series with relatively low print runs, as the town's population barely exceeded a few thousand.
