Argentina's participation in the Ibero-American series — a collaborative commemorative program among Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations launched in 1991 — produced relatively few silver issues. This 2007 Olympic-themed entry coincided with Buenos Aires holding candidate city status ahead of the IOC's selection process, though the city ultimately did not advance to the final round of voting for the 2016 Games. The Casa de Moneda had by this point shifted much of its production focus toward circulating coinage demands tied to Argentina's post-2001 economic recovery.
