The Tesoro Nacional issues of this period were treasury warrants in practical function — Nicaragua's banking infrastructure was thin enough that the national treasury itself served as the primary note-issuing authority rather than a dedicated central bank. The American Bank Note Company produced the series from its New York facilities, as it did for much of Central America during this period when regional governments consistently outsourced security printing rather than develop domestic capability.
Pick 47 is among the scarcer Nicaraguan issues of the pre-Federal Bank era, predating the Banco Nacional de Nicaragua's establishment by over a decade.
