Pick 97 is the 25 Pesetas note of the Republic, issued just as the Civil War was fracturing Spain's monetary system between Nationalist and Republican zones. The FNMT in Madrid continued producing notes for the Republican government, while Franco's Burgos administration scrambled to establish parallel currency arrangements — meaning the same denomination circulated under entirely different political authorities depending on which side of the front you were on.
