Spanish civil war-era cooperative scrip is well documented, but locally issued peseta notes from the late 1950s are a different matter entirely. By 1958, Franco's peseta was stable and the state had long since reasserted monetary control — which makes this Centellas cooperative note a genuine anomaly. Cooperative scrip of this period typically functioned as internal credit instruments, redeemable only at the issuing society's own establishment, sidestepping rather than defying official currency regulation.
Centellas is a small municipality in the Osona comarca, northeast of Barcelona. The Albertí catalogue reference AL#2912 places this firmly within the documented Catalan local issues, though surviving examples are rarely encountered outside regional collections.
