| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the second definitive portrait modelled by Arnold Machin, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The bust is draped and truncated at the shoulder. The encircling legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND with the jubilee dates 1952-1977 denoting the Silver Jubilee of her reign. The portrait is executed in a refined relief characteristic of Machin's medallic style. |
