| 背面描述 | The impaled arms of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, set at a slight tilt and surrounded by a wreath of interlinked chain and laurel, as designed by Stuart Devlin. The Royal Arms occupy the dexter half of the shield, quartered with the arms of the Duke of Edinburgh on the sinister half. The dates 1947 and 1972 flank the shield above and below respectively, commemorating the Silver Wedding Anniversary. The circular legend around the periphery reads SILVER WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and TWENTY-FIVE PENCE, separated by pellet stops. |

The Isle of Man's 1972 crown-sized commemorative was issued to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip — the same event that prompted similar pieces from a dozen Commonwealth territories simultaneously, making this one of the more redundant issues of the decade. Guernsey, Jersey, and several other dependencies struck near-identical commemoratives the same year, all at 28.28 g and 38.61 mm, a specification that had become the de facto Commonwealth crown format following decimalization.
The Pobjoy Mint, which had recently taken over striking duties for the Isle of Man, produced this piece during its early years handling the island's coinage.
