To the right and spiralling inward toward the centre, the opening stanza of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's 1915 poem 'In Flanders Fields' is inscribed in diminishing curved lines of text, evoking the image of rows of graves. The composition is framed by a plain raised rim. |
