Saint Helena's authority to issue commemorative coinage derives from its status as a British Overseas Territory, though the island's enduring commercial identity remains tied almost entirely to Napoleon's final exile there from 1815 until his death in 1821. This piece commemorates an earlier episode — his 1814 exile to Elba, from which he escaped after just ten months to launch the Hundred Days campaign.
