Aanvullende informatie

Saint Helena's connection to Austerlitz is entirely post-mortem: Napoleon died on the island in 1821, making it a convenient issuing authority for European Napoleonic commemoratives two centuries later. These pieces are commercial numismatic products, struck by contract mints and sold to collectors — Saint Helena issued no coinage of its own for general circulation during this period.

Austerlitz itself, fought in December 1805, destroyed the Third Coalition in a single afternoon.
