| Obverse description | Central device features the national emblem of Pakistan: an ornate tughra-style calligraphic device surmounted by a crescent and five-pointed star, all set within a beaded inner border. The Arabic legend 'پاکستان' (Pakistan) arcs around the upper field in bold script, flanked on either side by additional lettering. The date appears in Western numerals at the base of the design, below the central emblem. The entire design is contained within a continuous beaded border running along the coin's rim. |

Pakistan's 25 paisa coinage of this period was issued against the backdrop of two wars with India — 1965 and 1971 — the second of which directly resulted in the secession of East Pakistan as Bangladesh. The 1971 partition severed roughly half the country's population and industrial base overnight, creating significant disruption to ordinary commerce and, by extension, coin circulation patterns in both successor states.
The Lahore Mint struck these pieces throughout the run.
