Opmerkingen

Aktiebolaget Spetsbergens Svenska Kolfält was a Swedish mining company operating coal concessions at Svalbard under the legal ambiguity that existed before the 1920 Spitsbergen Treaty formally awarded Norwegian sovereignty. These small-denomination scrip notes were issued for internal use at the mining settlement — functioning as a closed-currency system to keep wages circulating within company-controlled stores rather than draining out to the mainland.

The öre denomination is telling. Fractional scrip of this size suggests the company was managing everyday canteen and supply transactions, not payroll.
