Opmerkingen

Handelsstederne i Grønland operated as a state trading monopoly, and these small-denomination notes functioned as a closed-currency system — scrip redeemable only within the Danish colonial trading posts, not convertible to krone or any outside currency. The Type II designation marks a mechanical advancement over the earlier handwritten serials: numbers were stamped rather than inscribed by clerks, a change that accompanied growing transaction volume in the settlements.

The monopoly structure meant these notes circulated in extreme isolation. A Greenlandic hunter receiving one had nowhere to spend it except back at the same post that issued it.
