正面描述 Draped bust of Moshoeshoe I facing right, wearing a traditional Basotho woven hat adorned with a feather and a beaded necklace with pendant. The legend KINGDOM OF LESOTHO arcs along the upper periphery within a decorative beaded border, while the inscription MOSHOESHOE I appears along the lower periphery. The portrait is rendered in high relief with careful attention to traditional regalia.

附加信息

Lesotho issued this piece as part of the wave of Olympic commemoratives that flooded collector markets ahead of the 1984 Los Angeles Games — a phenomenon so commercially aggressive that many national mints produced coins for countries with no meaningful Olympic program whatsoever. Lesotho did send athletes to Los Angeles, though the delegation was small and returned without medals.

The .925 silver specification and 28.28g weight place it squarely within the Crown-sized commemorative format that the Franklin Mint and similar contractors were packaging for smaller sovereign issuers throughout the 1980s, often handling design, production, and distribution entirely outside the issuing country.
