Комментарии	The Institut d'Emission de Syrie had an abbreviated existence — Syria nationalized its currency operations in 1956, folding the Institut's functions into the newly established Central Bank of Syria. This note, issued in 1955, was therefore among the last produced under the transitional authority that had managed Syrian currency since the end of the French Mandate. Bradbury Wilkinson's New Malden facility handled much of the Commonwealth and post-colonial issuing world's printing needs through this period, and Syria was one of several newly independent Arab states that continued sourcing notes from British security printers long after political ties with Britain had cooled. P#78B designates a specific signature variant within the 1955 series.
