| Obverse description | Uniformed military bust of King Carol I facing left, depicted in high relief with considerable detail showing epaulettes, decorations, and a collar order chain. The effigy occupies the majority of the field, rendered in a realistic portrait style by engraver A. Michaux, whose signature appears at the lower right of the truncation. The circumferential legend reads CAROL REGE AL ROMANIEI flanking the bust, with the commemorative regnal dates 1866-1906 arching along the right side, all within a fine beaded border. |
