Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic toughra of Sultan Abdulaziz, flanked on either side by olive branches forming a wreath at the base. A row of seven stars arcs across the upper field above the toughra. The regnal year, rendered in Arabic numerals, appears below the toughra within the wreath. The coin border is framed by a continuous beaded rim.

Reverse description Three lines of Arabic calligraphic inscription fill the central field, recording the accession year of Sultan Abdulaziz, the mint epithet and the Hijri year 1277. The legend is enclosed within a finely engraved olive branch wreath tied at the base, with a single five-pointed star at the apex above the inscription. The whole is encircled by a beaded border.
