Beschrijving keerzijde A large, naturalistically rendered edelweiss blossom dominates the central field in high relief, its radiating woolly petals and central florets finely detailed in the style of Harcuba's sculptural engraving. Behind the flower, a stylized mountainous landscape in low relief evokes the Slovak highlands, alluding to the partisan resistance during the Slovak National Uprising. The dates 1944 and 1969 flank the upper field in large block numerals, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the uprising, while the abbreviation SNP appears to the left. The engraver's signature HARCUBA is incised in small capitals along the lower field beneath the blossom.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued a quarter-century after the August 1944 uprising against the Nazi-backed Slovak State, this coin marks one of the most significant — and costly — acts of resistance in Central European history. The Slovak National Uprising mobilized roughly 60,000 partisan fighters before German forces crushed it by October 1944, with brutal reprisals following against civilian populations.

The 1969 release date is pointed: Czechoslovakia was still absorbing the shock of the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion of August 1968, and commemorating armed resistance carried unmistakable political weight under renewed occupation.
