| Obverse description | The Czechoslovak state coat of arms occupies the upper field, depicting the double-tailed rampant lion with a shield on its chest, surmounted by a five-pointed star, all rendered in bold high relief within a recessed panel. Below the heraldic device, the legend ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ SOCIALISTICKÁ REPUBLIKA is inscribed in three lines across the lower field in a stylized angular typeface characteristic of engraver Jiří Harcuba's medallic work. The denomination 25 KČS appears prominently at the bottom of the field in large numerals above the currency abbreviation. |

Issued a quarter-century after the August 1944 uprising against the Nazi-backed Slovak State, this coin marks one of the most significant — and costly — acts of resistance in Central European history. The Slovak National Uprising mobilized roughly 60,000 partisan fighters before German forces crushed it by October 1944, with brutal reprisals following against civilian populations.
The 1969 release date is pointed: Czechoslovakia was still absorbing the shock of the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion of August 1968, and commemorating armed resistance carried unmistakable political weight under renewed occupation.
