Obverse description The obverse features a central trident symbol accompanied by a closed crescent and a dagger, all rendered in a traditional Indian style within the field. A multi-line legend in Nagari script reading 'Maharao Shree Pragmalji' surrounds the central devices, identifying the ruling Maharao of Kutch. The regnal date is inscribed below in Kutchi numerals. Two varieties exist: Y#17.1 with a closed crescent and Y#17.2 with an open crescent, the latter confined to dates AD 1862 (VS 1920) and AD 1863 (VS 1921). The overall design is characteristic of the feudatory coinage tradition of the Kutch princely state.
