The Northwest Front Field Treasury operated under General Nikolai Yudenich's White Army during its 1919 campaigns against Petrograd. These small-denomination notes were emergency scrip issued to pay troops in the field — the treasury had no meaningful reserves behind them, and their acceptance even within White-controlled territory was uncertain. Yudenich's offensive came within sight of Petrograd in October 1919 before collapsing under Red Army pressure and a British naval withdrawal from support.
Lianozov, whose signature appears alongside Yudenich's, was head of the Northwest Government — a civilian administration the Allies pressed Yudenich to accept as a condition of recognition. The arrangement was uneasy from the start and dissolved along with the front itself by year's end.
