Produced in New York during the German occupation of the Netherlands, this series was printed for use after liberation — the Dutch government-in-exile in London coordinated the issue through the American Bank Note Company specifically to ensure a supply of untainted currency that could replace the compromised notes circulating under occupation. The "coin note" designation refers to the guilder coin imagery worked into the design, a device used across several denominations in this exile-period series.
P#67 is among the more elusive of the wartime exile issues. A portion of the print run was destroyed before ever being released, and post-liberation monetary reforms in 1945 curtailed how much actually reached general circulation.
