Obverse description The coat of arms of Suriname occupies the central field, depicting an oval shield supported by two indigenous figures in traditional feathered headdresses, each holding a spear, standing as heraldic supporters on either side. The shield bears a sailing ship in the upper dexter quarter, a palm tree in the upper sinister quarter, a five-pointed star and a diamond in the center, and wavy lines representing water in the base. A scroll beneath the shield carries the Latin motto JUSTITIA PIETAS FIDES (Justice, Piety, Faith). The upper legend reads REPUBLIEK SURINAME with the date 1976 divided at center, flanked by the Utrecht mint privy marks, and the denomination 25 GULDEN appears in the lower field.
