| Reverse description | Multicolour design centred on a large blank guilloche medallion framed by radiating sunburst lines in red and gold. A large toucan perched among tropical hibiscus flowers occupies the left; to the right, an outdoor gathering scene shows a standing male orator addressing a group of seated and standing figures in period dress. The Centrale Bank van Suriname leaned heavily on Thomas De La Rue throughout the 1980s, a period when Suriname's economy was under serious strain following the 1982 December Murders — the extrajudicial killing of fifteen prominent citizens by the Bouterse military regime — which triggered the suspension of Dutch development aid and sent the guilder into a prolonged crisis. Notes printed in this window were circulating into an economy increasingly dependent on the parallel market.
The watermark is the sole security feature, a notably sparse specification for De La Rue by their own standards at the time.
