Comments

Suriname gained independence from the Netherlands in 1975, but the Centrale Bank van Suriname continued contracting Enschedé in Haarlem for its banknote production well into the 1980s — a pragmatic arrangement given the printer's established relationship with Dutch colonial currency and its long-standing security printing infrastructure. This series ran across three years of considerable economic pressure, as falling bauxite revenues and rising import costs strained the Surinamese guilder through the early 1980s.

P#127 carries only a watermark as its primary security feature, modest even by contemporary standards for the denomination.
