| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in black and gray intaglio, the obverse bears an oval vignette at left enclosing a seated allegorical female figure holding a scroll and a flag, symbolic of sovereignty or commerce. The central vignette presents a detailed topographical view of the Fish Market in Bonaire, rendered with fine line engraving. The denomination and issuing authority are inscribed in Dutch, with the printer's imprint of Joh. Enschedé en Zonen appearing at the lower margin. |

The Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen was established in 1962 to replace the Muntregeling Nederlandse Antillen, giving the island group its own central issuing authority separate from the Netherlands proper. This note belongs to the inaugural series under that new institution — P#3 is among the first issues bearing the bank's name.
Enschedé had printed Netherlands Antillean currency for years before this, and the continuity of printer through the institutional transition is deliberate. The Haarlem firm's intaglio work on Caribbean colonial and post-colonial issues from this period is notably consistent in quality.
