Opmerkingen

De Surinaamsche Bank was a private commercial institution — not a central bank — that retained the right to issue currency in Suriname well into the twentieth century, an arrangement that persisted under Dutch colonial administration until the Centrale Bank van Suriname was established in 1957. This note predates that transition by six years.

Joh. Enschedé en Zonen printed most Dutch colonial currency of this period, making De Bussy an unusual choice. De Bussy was primarily known as a publisher and printer of official Dutch government documents rather than a banknote house, and their involvement with this series remains one of the less-examined details of Surinamese note production.
