Obverse description Brown on cream paper. The note is framed by an elaborate brown guilloche border with acanthus scrollwork and the numeral 25 repeated in each corner. The Batavia City Arms appears as a vignette at upper centre, flanked by laurel branches. The issuing bank name in ornate script occupies the central field above the denomination in large bold letterpress, with the place and date below; two manuscript signatures appear beneath the titles SECRETARIS and PRESIDENT respectively. A red diagonal SPECIMEN overprint is applied across the centre.

Reverse description Purple on cream paper. The entire reverse is occupied by a four-language anti-counterfeiting legal warning, set in typeset text blocks arranged in parallel columns covering Dutch, Javanese (in Javanese script), Chinese, and Malay (in Arabic-derived Jawi script). A red diagonal SPECIMEN overprint is applied across the centre.
