| Obverse description | The face is engraved in a dense ornamental style, framed by an elaborate scrollwork border with denomination numeral 25 in each corner within guilloche cartouches. The bank title "De Javasche Bank" appears in Gothic blackletter script at the top, followed by the bearer clause and the denomination "VIJF EN TWINTIG GULDEN" in bold decorative lettering. At the lower centre, a vignette presents a recumbent lion beside the Dutch colonial arms, surrounded by symbols of trade and industry, with spaces for manuscript signatures of the Secretary and President. |
