| Descrizione del dritto | The national coat of arms of Burundi occupies the central field, depicting a shield bearing a lion's head, flanked by two traditional spears crossed behind the shield and two scrolls bearing the national motto. The circular legend around the upper periphery reads 'IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y' UBURUNDI' in raised Latin lettering, with the motto 'UBUMWE - IBIKORWA - AMAJAMBERE' arcing beneath it and 'UNITE . TRAVAIL . PROGRES' inscribed on the scrolls of the arms. The denomination '25 FRANCS' appears prominently across the lower field, flanked by the fineness indicators '1 OZ' to the left and 'Ag 999' to the right, all rendered in a polished proof finish against a mirror field. |

This piece belongs to a wave of African-themed commemoratives issued by Burundi beginning around 2013, most of them struck by European private mints and bearing little connection to Burundian monetary history. The Stanley and Livingstone encounter — the 1871 meeting at Ujiji, on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, roughly 200 kilometers from Bujumbura — provides the geographic link, thin as it is.
Ujiji is now part of Tanzania, not Burundi.
