Aanvullende informatie

Guinea's 1962 coinage was among the first issued after independence from France in 1958, struck as the country under Sékou Touré severed ties with the CFA franc zone — the only territory in French West Africa to vote "Non" in de Gaulle's 1958 referendum. The economic isolation that followed was immediate and punishing, with France withdrawing all technical and financial assistance within months.

The Guinean franc itself was introduced in 1960, making this 1962 issue part of the earliest wave of fully sovereign coinage the country produced.
