Beschrijving keerzijde The central field depicts a poultry farming scene in which multiple eggs are arranged in an incubator tray, with four chicks in various stages of hatching — some emerging from cracked shells, others already standing. The scene is rendered in fine relief and references the FAO's food production initiative. An Arabic legend arcs across the upper portion of the field, while the French legend 'AUGMENTONS LA PRODUCTION ALIMENTAIRE' curves along the lower periphery. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Aanvullende informatie

The FAO series issued by the Comoros in the early 1980s was part of a broader United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization program that commissioned member nations to mint coins carrying agricultural themes as a form of soft development messaging. For the Comoros — a newly independent archipelago that had unilaterally declared independence from France in 1975 — participation in such programs was one of several ways the young state signaled international legitimacy. The Banque Centrale des Comores itself had only been established after the break from French monetary administration.
