The Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique Équatoriale et du Cameroun — the BCEAEC — was itself a transitional institution, superseded by the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale in 1972, which is precisely why this type has such a short production window. These three years represent the final issues under that issuing authority before the institutional reorganization took effect.
