| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylized silhouette effigy of Queen Beatrix facing left, rendered in a bold, modernist design with minimal facial detail against a plain field. The name 'Beatrix' appears in flowing cursive script across the upper portion of the bust, while the legend 'KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN' is inscribed in large serif capitals to the right of the effigy. The composition is framed by two horizontal parallel lines at the top and bottom of the inner field, creating a distinctive graphic border characteristic of the Aruba coinage series. |

Aruba's separation from the Netherlands Antilles on January 1, 1986 — a process called "Status Aparte" — triggered an immediate need for distinct coinage. The Centrale Bank van Aruba was established specifically to manage the new island's monetary affairs, and this 25 Florin piece was among the first issues struck under that authority, commemorating the political transition itself.
The Netherlands Antilles federation had been fracturing for years over Aruba's insistence on independence from the larger group, particularly its economic distance from Curaçao. Full independence from the Kingdom of the Netherlands was originally scheduled for 1996 but was later indefinitely suspended at Aruba's own request.
