Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles on 1 January 1986 under a special Status Aparte arrangement, and the Centrale Bank van Aruba was established almost immediately to issue its own currency — the florin replacing the Antillean guilder at par. This 1993 note is part of the second series issued under that institution, with design work credited to Evelino Fingal, an Aruban artist whose involvement gave the series a distinctly local character uncommon in Caribbean issues of the period.

Enschedé in Haarlem, printing continuously since 1703, handled the production — a natural choice for Dutch-affiliated territories throughout the twentieth century.
