| Obverse description | The niobium centre depicts a superimposed juxtaposition of two locomotives: a modern ÖBB electric locomotive in the foreground and a historic 19th-century steam locomotive (numbered 618) behind it, rendered in fine relief against the coloured field. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs along the upper portion of the silver ring, while the denomination 25 EURO appears in large characters along the lower arc. The date 2004 is inscribed in the lower field of the niobium centre, with the engraver's initials TP present on the coin. |
