Aversbeschreibung The obverse features an intricate depiction of St. Mary lace from Lepoglava, rendered in fine detail and distinguished by its characteristic construction from a single continuous, unbroken thread. The lace motif occupies the central field, showcasing the delicate geometric patterns associated with this UNESCO-recognized Croatian craft. The encircling legend reads REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA 25 EURO 2023. in Latin script, with the denomination and date integrated into the upper and lower periphery of the design.

Reversbeschreibung The reverse presents a stylized composite representation of three distinct regional lace traditions of Croatia: the needlepoint lace of Pag, the bobbin lace of Lepoglava, and the agave-fiber lace of Hvar, each rendered to reflect their unique stitching or crocheting techniques and the specific materials employed in their creation. The design elements are arranged harmoniously across the field, celebrating the diversity of Croatian lacemaking as recognized by UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The legend ČIPKARSTVO U HRVATSKOJ arcs across the reverse in Latin script.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Čipkarstvo — the tradition of lacemaking practiced in Lepoglava, Hvar, and Pag — was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009, one of Croatia's earliest entries in that register. The Pag variety in particular uses a technique so geographically isolated that it is considered distinct even within Croatian tradition, worked without any supporting pillow and passed through unbroken female lineage for centuries.

The Croatian National Bank has issued collector gold in this denomination series to spotlight UNESCO-recognized national heritage, with each release tied to a specific inscription rather than a broad cultural theme.
